There's a said charm about photographing jewellery against books and pages of words. Strangely, while being all too common, and you'd think all those words would really be distracting, it works pretty damn well. Apparently it focuses the piece AND removes any grainy effect. PLUS, makes it look sophisticated AND can be done at any time of day. WHAT AN INSPIRATION!



On the other hand, this picture's dark and unattractive. Inability to see details turns the viewer off. Plus, it being too dark indicates the need for stronger lighting and while having interesting elements, cannot be done alone, i.e. I cannot take this picture on my own, as I will need to adjust lighting then hold the camera with only one hand which may be shaky and result in blurry images.

Conclusion: first picture works. BUT, it is so damn common. SIGHS.
